My Lifetime Skincare Journey: How Consistency Keeps My Skin Glowing
Sherry LittleShare
I’ve been dedicated to my skincare routine since I was 12 years old, thanks to my mother’s gentle (and sometimes not-so-gentle) reminders. She taught me early on about the importance of moisturizing and hydrating my skin, emphasizing that the effort would pay off with fewer wrinkles as I aged. Now, at 52, with a clear, bright complexion and minimal wrinkles, I can say she was absolutely right, but don't tell her I said that.
A Routine That Grows With You
During my teens, my skin was easy to manage without much trouble. However, in my 30s, I was surprised by the sudden appearance of adult acne, forcing me to adapt my routine. Through it all—whether I was out partying in my 20s or exhausted after a long day working in the yard—I’ve always made time for skincare. It became part of my daily ritual, an essential step in my evening routine.
My Evening Routine: Relaxation Meets Skincare
Every night, I wind down by cleansing my face, following up with my Calm & Clear Facial Toner to balance my skin. I layer on different serums based on my skin’s needs, and I always finish with a nourishing moisturizer. This ritual helps me relax and signals to my body that it’s time to transition into rest mode. No matter how busy the day has been, this quiet moment with my skincare is non-negotiable.
Weekend Extras: Deep Cleansing and Masks
On weekends, I go the extra mile with a deep facial scrub using our Facial Coffee Scrub. It’s gentle but effective, thanks to the coffee ground finely to a texture similar to baking soda—perfect for exfoliating without being too harsh on the skin. Afterward, I apply a clay mask (coming soon to our store!) to draw out impurities, followed by a hydrating mask to replenish my skin. One thing to keep in mind whether nightly cleaning or weekend deep hydration, cater to what your skin needs. If it's winter and needs more hydration then give it. I don't have a set routine per say but listen to what my skin needs, whether it's my face of my body, feed your skin.
Sunscreen: My Daily Essential
No matter the weather or whether I’m wearing makeup, I never skip my mineral sunscreen. It’s a crucial part of keeping my complexion even and protected. Because I’ve taken care of my skin for so many years, I don’t need foundation—I love how my skin looks and feels just as it is. Don't skimp on your sunscreen, find what works best for your skin, like I said I love the mineral sunscreens, I have fair skin, and mix them in with my daily moisturizer.
Skincare has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s more than just a routine—it’s a moment for myself, a chance to reset and take care of my well-being. Whether it’s my weekday rituals or weekend pampering sessions, each step keeps my skin healthy and glowing. I hope sharing my journey inspires you to find joy and relaxation in your own self-care routine, no matter where life takes you.
